New & Existing Customers
The first step to becoming a customer of CMD or CSD is to determine if your home is within our service area. The Chester Metropolitan District serves the majority of Chester County. Chester Sewer District’s service area extends throughout Chester County, with the exception of the Town of Fort Lawn and the Town of Great Falls.
The majority of our service area overlaps. However, not all locations inside our service areas have access to public utilities at this time.
HOW TO ESTABLISH SERVICE
Once it has been determined that we are capable of serving your home, you will need to come to our office at 155 Wylie Street to apply for service. Please bring with you the following items:
- Valid photo identification
- Proof of residence
(rental receipt, closing documents, deed, landlord letter)
- Deposit Payment
District policy states that service may only be established or transferred in person. All new or transfer accounts require a signature before service will be connected.
If you relocate and need to transfer your service to another address, please bring your new proof of residence and ID to our office at 155 Wylie Street. Our customer service representatives will be happy to assist you.
Upon transfer of service, you may receive two bills in the first month. The first will be a “Final Bill” for your old residence. This will cover all usage up to the point when our meter crew terminated service at that address. The second bill will be your normal bill for your new residence, which will include usage on that meter from the time it was connected until its regular reading date.
Both bills must be paid in full to avoid disconnection of service.
TERMINATION OF SERVICE
Our policy states that Employees of Chester Metropolitan District are not allowed to terminate service by telephone. All terminations of service must be requested in person by the account holder or power of attorney for the account holder, and will require photo identification and a signature.
For residential customers whose accounts are in good standing, deposits are as follows:
Water Deposit: $35
Sewer Deposit: $20
Fort Lawn Residential Sewer Deposit: $40.00
Please Note: If your service is repeatedly disconnected for non-payment, you may be required to post an additional deposit before service can be restored.
Commercial and Industrial Deposits are based on meter size. Please contact our office at (803) 385-5123 for more information.
